FALMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Falmouth Fire Rescue Department said a person was rescued from the water off Nobska Point in Falmouth Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to Juniper Point in Woods Hole around 3:30 p.m. after the Steamship Authority Ferry found a person in the water.

Due to “poor visibility and rough seas” from the Nor’easter, marine units with the Falmouth Fire Department, the Coast Guard, and Environmental police began a coordinated search operation.

Around 4:25 p.m., a Coast Guard helicopter located the person near Nobska Point and deployed a rescue swimmer to retrieve the victim, according to the department.

The victim was successfully hoisted from the water into the helicopter.

The patient was transported to Joint Base Cape Cod, where they were then taken to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation.

According to the department, the victim’s condition was “not considered life-threatening.”

The incident remains under investigation.
