GLOCESTER – A mobile home park on Bowdish Lake reportedly run by the same family for decades has been sold to a pair of Smithfield-based real estate agents and developers.
Putnam Pike Exchange, LLC purchased Sunset Cove Mobile Home Park from Sunset Cove Properties LLC for $1.2 million, in a sale finalized on Christmas Eve, according to a deed registered with the town clerk’s office. The new LLC was registered this month with the Rhode Island Secretary of State by managers Peter Dufresne and Shana Boyer, agents with Spectrum Real Estate, a division of Keller Williams.

Janice Lowell, the manager of Sunset Cove Properties LLC, appeared before the Town Council in September to request transfer of the mobile home park’s business license to the pair. At the time, Dufresne and Boyer told councilors they plan to rebuild and replace the existing mobile homes with new units, and to improve the park’s aesthetics.

The 2.72 acre lot, located at 2267 Putnam Pike, is approved for 10 mobile home sites and up to 18 total rental units, according to a listing that was marketing the property this year for $1.45 million.
Situated right on the shores of Bowdish Lake, the park abuts the George Washington Management Area and features a cottage for owner occupation, built in 1930 according to town property records.

“Picture yourself enjoying the gorgeous sunsets, boating and fishing right from your back door,” the listing noted.
In September, the new owners noted that the park currently contains 10 mobile-home sites and eight site-built cabins. At the time, only around four of the sites were reportedly occupied, and Boyer and Dufresne told councilors they planned to work with current residents, and not to displace them immediately, and to allow time for renovations. They said infrastructure upgrades would be needed, including septic and water-system work, and that they had been in contact with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management for engineering plans.

Lowell said her family has owned the park for decades, and the listing advertised 50 years of single family management.
Councilors ultimately approved the transfer, in a motion stating the license would be reissued and renamed upon receipt of required documents.
Dufresne serves as team leader for Spectrum and owns rental property throughout northern Rhode Island, according to the team’s website.
