Special election voting

Town Clerk Joanne Buttie is notifying residents that the last date to register to be eligible to vote in the special election scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3 is Sunday, Jan. 4. Voter registration forms will be made available in the lobby of the North Smithfield Police Station at 575 Smithfield Road for new voter registrations, and to correct names and addresses of registered voters.

Registered voters in North Smithfield can vote early at town hall starting on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, through Monday, Feb. 2 – excluding January 19 as it is a holiday and Town Hall is closed – during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.

Any voter who has requested a mail ballot and presents themselves at the polling location will be required to cast a provisional ballot.
