Rhode Island Seeks Public Input on Plans for Rural Mobile Health Clinics

A state initiative is asking residents and healthcare professionals to help determine where mobile clinics should go, what services they should offer and when they should be available.

Rhode Island is gathering feedback as it plans mobile health clinics designed to bring care directly to rural communities across the state.

Funded through the Rural Health Transformation Grant, the initiative aims to learn what services residents need, where clinics should stop and which days and times would make them most accessible.

Eighteen communities are included in the outreach: Burrillville, Charlestown, East Greenwich, Exeter, Foster, Glocester, Hopkinton, Jamestown, Little Compton, New Shoreham (Block Island), North Smithfield, Portsmouth, Richmond, Scituate, Smithfield, Tiverton, West Greenwich and Westerly.

Residents and Healthcare Professionals Encouraged to Participate

Residents who live in the identified communities are being asked to complete a survey to share their needs and preferences. Participants will have a chance to win a $50 gift card.

The survey is available online at this link.

Healthcare professionals who serve patients in the targeted communities are also invited to provide input. Information for healthcare providers is available here.

The feedback will help planners better understand community needs as they develop the mobile clinic initiative. Residents can weigh in on the types of care offered, potential clinic locations and schedules that could make services easier to access.

The effort gives residents and healthcare providers an opportunity to help shape how mobile health services may reach rural communities throughout Rhode Island.
