GLOCESTER – A fire Sunday morning at a business that offers scenic train rides in Glocester gutted a large, two-bay garage, but left the retail store and a residence on the property unharmed.
Firefighters reportedly responded to a fire at Harmony Products at 474 Putnam Pike around 6 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1. Arriving responders with the Harmony Fire Department faced issues with water supply and man power, calling in neighboring departments to extinguish the blaze, which would ultimately reduce the structure to a pile of debris and smoldering ash.

Around 50 firefighters including personnel from the Chepachet Fire Department and West Glocester Fire & Rescue, along with departments in Smithfield, Foster, Lincoln, Burrillville and North Providence would report to the scene of the 2-alarm incident, which caused closures on Route 44.
No one was injured, but the business noted that the fire was a major loss.

“We really want to stay upbeat and positive but this is a big hit, tons of equipment and a lifetime of memories here on the farm,” it noted.
The business thanked all who responded to the scene.
“This has truly been the most awful day,” noted Harmony Products, a business that features a railway offering half mile train rides, as well as a gift shop. “But we can’t bring ourselves to even imagine what could have been without the bravery of the people who responded in our time of crisis.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
