PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Fire Department HazMat personnel responded to the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s office Friday morning for reports of a suspicious powder found at the address.

According to Providence police spokesperson Kristy DosReis, one person was transported to an area hospital out of an abundance of caution.

The individual was not displaying any symptoms at the time of the transport, and there is no credible threat at this time.

The response to the 148 West River Street building was assisted by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and Rhode Island State Police.
