Suspect arrested in Pawtucket shooting incident

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket police have arrested a suspect in a Wednesday night shooting incident that left a man with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Police arrested 24-year-old Alvin Franco at the scene of the Pleasant Street incident, according to the Pawtucket Police Department.

Franco was quickly identified as the suspect shortly after officers arrived and gave aid to the victim at approximately 8:45 p.m.

The victim is known to Franco, and is currently in stable condition at an area hospital.

Franco is facing multiple charges in the incident:

  • Assault with intent to commit specified felonies
  • Using a firearm when committing a crime of violence – First offense
  • Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence/fugitive from justice
  • Carrying a pistol or revolver without a license or permit
  • Firing in a compact area
  • Disorderly conduct

Franco will be arraigned Thursday afternoon in 6th District Court.
