Young artists win prizes, chance to be featured in Burrillville Earth Day poster contest

BURRILLVILLE – Six Burrillville youngsters went dwelling with money prizes final week in a contest to design a poster that will assist to teach the neighborhood about vitality conservation and recycling.

Greater than 112 posters have been submitted, and 12 of the designs have been chosen for a calendar set to return out subsequent yr.

Religion Aldrich gained the primary place prize within the vitality conservation designs.

The competition, held yearly in a collaboration between Jesse Smith Memorial Library, the Burrillville Parks & Recreation Division, and the previous Pascoag Utility District – now referred to as the Clear River Electrical & Water District – was open to city residents in grades Ok by means of 5.

An awards ceremony was held on the library on Tuesday, Could 13.

“We wish to congratulate all of the artists and poster creators tonight,” stated the youngsters’s librarian at a ceremony for the mother and father and winners.

The twelve artists every acquired certificates, together with goodie luggage and a voucher for a free ebook from Jesse Smith. The highest three artists in two classes – vitality saving and recycling – additionally acquired money prizes of $20, $30 or $50.

Peggy Dudley, a member of the Mates of Jesse Smith, offered funds for the recycling winners, with the primary place prize gained by Scarlett Preservati, second by Bridget Dybala and third by Evelyn Konnerth.
