WPD Charges Negansett Ave. Man For Killing Animals, Assault

WARWICK, RI— On Could 27, Warwick Police responded to 200 Negansett Ave.  following a 911 hang-up name, discovering a combative 30-year-old man, the one individual there, a lifeless parrot and lifeless canine, charging him for killing animals maliciously, failing to look after animals and for assaulting officers.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Michael Gast Jr., a 30-year-old resident  of the house, who seemed to be below the affect of narcotics.  

Through the interplay, Gast turned combative and assaulted two Warwick Cops. He was  subdued and transported by Warwick Fireplace Division personnel to Kent County Memorial Hospital for  analysis. It was later decided that Gast had positioned the 911 name himself for unknown causes.  

As officers carried out a protecting sweep of the residence to make sure the security of any occupants, they  discovered the inside in deplorable situation. Officers found one deceased canine and one deceased  parrot inside the house. Warwick Animal Management was known as to the scene and eliminated two further  canines, a cat, and two parrots from the residence.  

Following an investigation, Michael Gast Jr. was charged with the next offenses:  

 (1) Depend – Malicious Killing of Animals  

 (1) Depend – Pointless Cruelty to Animals (Loss of life Ensuing)  

 (5) Counts – Pointless Cruelty to Animals  

 (2) Counts – Easy Assault  

 (1) Depend – Resisting Arrest  

Gast was held in a single day on the Warwick Police Division and appeared earlier than a choose at Kent County  third District Courtroom on Could 28, 2025.
