WARWICK, RI — This week’s Warwick Weekend events offers free movies, three days of karate, and egg hunt and open skating.
The Warwick Weekend events weather forecast promises a sunny start Friday in the 60s, then rain after 5 p.m. Saturday and likely Sunday with temps going to low 40s and 50s, the National Weather Service reports.
Here are some events and happenings to help you decide where you’re spending this Warwick weekend:
Warwick Weekend Events Friday:
Ocean State Grand Nationals Karate Tournament Ocean State Grand National is this Weekend April 4-6, at Crowne Plaza Warwick, Rhode Island. A premier martial arts tournament held annually in Warwick, Rhode Island, founded by Grandmaster Don Rodrigues and Shihan Christine Bannon-Rodrigues. Sanctioned by NASKA, the tournament showcases high-level competition in forms, fighting, and weapons, while also fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and respect among martial artists of all ages.
We expect there will be some awesome International competition. In addition to USA’s best, we are expecting some competitors from around the world to compete for the Ocean State titles and cash prizes totaling $40,000.
Proclamation Free Movie Night It’s Free movie night again with another first friday at 8 p.m. at the Proclamation Taproom. During first Fridays, Proclamation shows a movie in the taproom with sound. For our April movie, we will be showing the first Hunger Games. Since it’s longer than 2 hours, we will start the movie at 7:30pm. May the odds be ever in your favor. Bring Your Own Improv, WCFA Bring Your Own Improv is back for family friendly live performances every Friday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $11.63. If you’re looking for something fun to do late on a Friday night in Warwick, they’ve got you covered. Their Caffeinated Insomniacs Comedy show – designed for teens and adults – is the place to be at 10 p.m. Their show welcomes voluntary audience participation. You can participate in one of three ways: applaud for a scene you like, yell out fantastic suggestions, or if you feel you’re ready, jump up and get involved.
Thayer Arena Public Skate: Through March, Friday and Sunday, Public Skate is open to skaters of all ages. Cost to Skate is $5 – Children 5 and under are free. Skate Rentals are available at Sandy Lane Sports across the street from the rink.

- Sundays 12:50 – 2:30 p.m.
No Skate Dates: Fridays: 2/9 & 3/22 Sundays: 3/10
Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian who is 18 years or older. Children ages 13-17 without an adult staying onsite must be paid for and signed in by an adult that can leave emergency contact information. Only persons wearing skates are permitted on the ice surface. Helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters.

City Park Egg Hunt – The City of Warwick & Tri-City Elks Egg Hunt is Saturday April 5, at Warwick City Park, 185 Asylum Road, Warwick, RI. Free admission, free activities, giveaways. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Attractions include a bounce house, face painting, and photos with “The Bunny.” Rain date is April 6.
