Rhode Island State Police investigating death of Capitol Police recruit

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said that it was investigating the death of a Capitol Police recruit.

The recruit was identified as 27-year-old Kyron Lopes, of Providence.

Lopes was transported to the hospital on Dec. 23 after a training exercise.

He died on Dec. 25.

State police said tests by the medical examiner were pending and the investigation was ongoing.
