PROVIDENCE, RI — A Windfall man, an admitted participant in a Land Rover credit score fraud conspiracy utilizing stolen identities to finance SUVs from the Warwick Land Rover Dealership and one in New Hampshire, will probably be sentenced July 24.
Land Rover Credit score Fraud Scheme in RI & NH
Adalberto Mauricio Romero, 28, admitted that he supposed to defraud a New Hampshire dealership in Could 2022, when he sought to take possession of a Land Rover valued at $95,713 as a part of the Land Rover credit score fraud scheme, the Rhode Island U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace stories.
Supply of the car to Romero was halted when he offered a fraudulent driver’s license containing data that was used as a part of an internet software to safe financing via a dealership financing program.
Romero pleaded responsible on April 24, 2025, to a cost of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on July 24, 2025. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Lawyer Paul F. Daly, Jr.
One co-defendant within the Land Rover credit score fraud scheme, Roy Sweets, 27, of Pawtucket, pleaded guilty on March 18, 2025, to a cost of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 10, 2025.
A 3rd co-defendant n the Land Rover credit score fraud scheme, Dennis Odoom, 27, admitted to a federal judge that he enlisted others to affix the conspiracy.
The Land Rover credit score fraud scheme was investigated by the Warwick Police Department, the Bedford, NH, Police Division, Homeland Safety Investigations, and the U.S. Division of Labor Workplace of Inspector Common.
