The North Kingstown Recreation Division, in partnership with FLY (situated at 225 Dyer Avenue in Windfall, RI), will provide on-site programming and varied hands-on expertise, on a rotating foundation center college and early highschool college students over April Break 2025 and February Break 2026 in addition to programming in Excessive Summer season Camp 2025. All educators, transportation, meals and know-how provides and different scholar participation prices can be coated by LEARN365RI grant funds (a small administrative price can be charged).

What Is FLY?

The Monetary Literacy Youth (FLY) Initiative is devoted to creating systemic change, advocating for monetary training for all people in Rhode Island, and ending generational poverty. Critical, blatant, and dangerously deep disparities among the many underserved inhabitants want essential consideration. The issues are socially unjust and systemic: housing, profession, dependence on welfare, meals insecurity, psychological/emotional wellness, debt, training, and monetary stability are all impacted by the absence of economic literacy. Monetary confidence is elusive; poverty is commonplace.

FLY’s objective is to reverse the monetary literacy deficit that impairs reaching life’s most necessary monetary objectives: vital purchases (automobile, home); buying a significant, rewarding, satisfying, fulfilling profession; actively exercising wholesome monetary practices (investments, borrowing/saving cash). Monetary literacy will empower people with information, expertise, and sources wanted to finish generational poverty. Getting access to instructional {and professional} monetary sources will translate to alternatives that sometimes would evade underserved communities.

The FLY Initiative is a robust resolution for systemic change. FLY will equip the following era with top-flight monetary information, expertise, and instruments to safe monetary stability. The worry, anxiousness, and powerlessness that perpetuate a downward spiral which settles and preys upon frontline communities can be allayed. Monetary wellness and stability, worthy employment, protected housing, superior training, healthful meals safety, high quality healthcare, and company and political management aspirations will thrive solidly and boldly.
