9 to be inducted into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame

HERITAGE HALL OF FAME

The Board of Administrators of the Rhode Island Heritage Corridor of Fame at the moment introduced the collection of 9 distinguished Rhode Islanders for membership within the Rhode Island Heritage Corridor of Fame.

In keeping with Board President Lawrence Reid, the Corridor of Fame, consisting of “illustrious Rhode Islanders” from Roger Williams and the Chief Sachems of the Narragansett and the Wampanoag tribes to the current, was created in 1965 to honor “any particular person who has introduced credit score to Rhode Island, introduced Rhode Island into prominence, and contributed to the historical past and heritage of the state.” 

Such people, stated Reid, will need to have been born in Rhode Island, lived, studied, or labored in Rhode Island for a big time, or made his or her fame right here. That is Reid’s first annual induction ceremony as President.

This yr’s annual induction ceremony–the 59th–will happen on Saturday, Might 3, 2025 on the Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet in Cranston.  A 5:00 p.m. social hour can be adopted by a 6:00 p.m. dinner, leisure, and the induction ceremony.

Common James D’Agostino, a Corridor of Fame Director, is dinner chairman and is assisted by Director Lt. Colonel Dennis Morgan, who will function Grasp of Ceremonies. 

The Pawtuxet Rangers Fife and Drum Corps, will open the night’s program adopted by an invocation from Reverend Robert Marciano, pastor of St. Kevin’s Church in Warwick after which introductory remarks by President Reid.  Dinner music can be supplied by an array of well-known native musicians, a few of whom are Corridor of Fame inductees.  Liliana Iavarone will sing the Nationwide Anthem.

Steven Feinberg – Government Director of the Rhode Island Movie & Tv Workplace, author, movie producer, and director (to be inducted by Director Emeritus Kenneth Dooley, 2018 Inductee).

John Howell – Dean of Rhode Island newspaper publishing, Director of Beacon Communications, and civic chief (to be inducted by Director Michael Levesque).

Speaker Matthew J. Smith – former Speaker of the Home, historian, professor, and Catholic lay chief (to be inducted by President Emeritus Dr. Patrick T. Conley, 1995 Inductee).

Lorén M. Spears – Government Director, Tomaquag Museum, educator, Native American rights advocate (to be inducted by Dr. Scott Molloy, 2009 Inductee).

Dr. Joyce L. Stevos – Versatile educator, social reformer for African and Native American communities, Director of the Heritage Harbor Basis (to be inducted by Dr. Debra Mulligan, Secretary, Director).

James Vincent – Social activist, former president of each the City League of Rhode Island and the Windfall department of the NAACP (to be inducted by Director Michael Levesque).

Thomas P. Whitten – Longtime Government Director of the John Hope Settlement Home, creator, and social activist for the Black neighborhood (to be inducted by Director Emeritus Albert R. Beauparlant).

The donation to the Heritage Corridor of Fame for the dinner occasion is $150.00 per particular person or $1,200.00 for a desk of 10.  Congratulatory advertisements may also be positioned in our program e book.
