CRANSTON, RI — The sixtieth annual Gaspee Days 5K had overcast, drizzly climate within the mid 70s, as  members of the 1,769-strong field crossed the end line at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet to the cheers of spectators, many dressed for the patriotic celebration of America’s first combat opposing a king.

The variety of runners was 28 greater than final yr.

Ending first and second and third in the men’s division respectively had been Gilmar Silvestre, 36, of Taunton, MA with a time of 14:20.0, Bronson Venable, 34, of Warwick, RI,  with at time of 14:23.2 and Jack McMahon, 24, of Warwick, CT, with a time of 14:28.0.

Ending first, second and third within the girls’s division had been Rachel Schilkowsky, 33, of Windfall, RI with a time of 16:10.4, Lilly Tuck, 23, of Windfall, with a time of 16:27.0, and Abbey Wheeler,  26, of Jamaica Plain, MA, with a time of 17:07.5.

Runners had been welcomed by the gang as they rounded the ultimate nook headed towards Rhodes on the Pawtuxet for the ultimate few hundred yards on Rhodes Place because the Gaspee Days Parade equipped down the highway on Narragansett Parkway, scheduled for 10 a.m.
