WARWICK, RI — At present is Memorial Day, the federal vacation honoring those that died in service to the nation, with the Warwick Memorial Day service beginning at 10 a.m. at Warwick Veterans Center College.

The day was initially often known as Ornament Day, according to history.com. The commemoration was established following the Civil Struggle and have become an official federal vacation in 1971. The day is separate from Veterans Day, which is supposed to honor all women and men who served.
